contemporary jewellery

Wirework has become a signature of my jewellery, either as a feature in itself, to add interest or as a way of assembling.

My first feature elements were in silver clay .

I have been developing work in

coppers and bronzes.

My beadwork now encompasses fine delicate beading, three dimensional features and freeform pieces..

I am happy to work to commission to produce a unique tailor-made item

to match a favourite or special occasion outfit.

Mo Burrows

I came to jewellery making late in life & am largely self taught, having done music at college & having been a musician & teacher professionally.

My intention is to design pieces of artwork to wear: contemporary jewellery using unusual combinations of silver, copper, bronze, wirework, semi-precious stones, acrylics & beading.

My style is my own, individual and unique, and is heavily influenced by the colour, texture, shape, and the infinite variety of beads and other materials I incorporate. Although one design may lead to another no two pieces are the same and my designs can be quirky at times.

My ideas come from a childhood obsession with my mother’s button and bead box and the influence of my Victorian milliner grandmother, along with an instinctive feel for form and colour and a passionate desire to “make” which over the years has encompassed crochet, needlework, macramé, batik and ceramics alongside writing, poetry, music and dance all of which contributes to my present creations.
